Peace of Mind includes a step-by-step lockdown guide for every platform. When followed correctly, the filter cannot be removed or bypassed — even by someone with technical knowledge.

The guide walks you through each step with screenshots and plain-language instructions. No technical background required. Most people complete it in 15-20 minutes per device.

What the Lockdown Guide Covers

iPhone

Screen Time restrictions managed by a passcode you give to someone you trust:

  • Block Safari and all third-party browsers
  • Block app installs from the App Store
  • Block app deletion
  • Disable Siri web search
  • Screen Time passcode held by accountability partner or stored in a time-locked vault

Android

Family Link with supervised account for system-level protection:

  • Parent approval required for all app installs
  • Factory reset protection — cannot wipe the device to remove restrictions
  • Developer options disabled
  • Account-level supervision — restoring the device re-applies all restrictions
  • Watchdog service monitors enforcement continuously

Mac

Enterprise config profile that locks down Chrome and Edge at the OS level:

  • Extension force-installed — cannot be removed from the browser
  • DevTools completely disabled
  • Incognito mode and guest mode blocked
  • Other browser extensions blocked
  • Standard user account (not admin)
  • Firmware password set
  • Disk encryption enabled

Windows

Registry policies that provide the same lockdown as the Mac config profile:

  • Extension force-installed — cannot be removed from the browser
  • DevTools completely disabled
  • Incognito mode and guest mode blocked
  • Other browser extensions blocked
  • Standard user account (not admin)
  • BIOS password set
  • BitLocker encryption enabled

Why Other Filters Can Be Bypassed

Every popular content filter has a fatal weakness. Most have several:

  • DNS filters (OpenDNS, CleanBrowsing, NextDNS) are bypassed by turning on a VPN or changing DNS settings. One toggle in device settings and the filter is gone.
  • Browser extensions (BlockerX, BlockSite, LeechBlock) are removed in 3 clicks from chrome://extensions. Incognito mode bypasses them entirely.
  • Monitoring apps (Covenant Eyes, Bark) can be uninstalled with a PIN reset, and they only report what you already saw — they don't prevent it.
  • Router-level filters are bypassed by switching to cellular data or connecting to any other Wi-Fi network.
  • Hosts-file blockers are defeated by opening a different browser or restoring the file from admin access.

These tools were not designed for people who are trying to bypass them. Peace of Mind was.

How Peace of Mind Closes Every Vector

Peace of Mind does not rely on any single protection layer. It uses 8+ independent layers that work simultaneously. Disabling one layer does not affect the others.

Want to use a VPN? VPN download pages are blocked. The extension also filters content at the browser level, so even if a VPN were running, the content would still be caught before it renders.

Want to open incognito mode? Incognito mode is disabled via enterprise policy.

Want to use DevTools to disable the extension? DevTools are completely disabled.

Want to install a different browser? Alternative browser download pages are blocked. On mobile, app installs require approval.

Want to uninstall the extension? It is force-installed via enterprise policy. It cannot be removed from the browser's extension page.

Want to clear browser data? The extension is installed at the OS level, not stored in browser data. Clearing data does nothing.

Want to access content through social media APIs? Network traffic interception scans API responses before they reach the page.

Want to use creative spelling or Unicode tricks? Full Unicode normalization catches homoglyphs, leetspeak, zero-width characters, emoji substitutions, and fuzzy matching catches typos and letter doubling.

There is no single point of failure. That is the difference.
