Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Step 1: Download Peace of Mind from the App Store
Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for "Peace of Mind Filter." Download and install the app. The download is free and includes a 7-day free trial with full access to all 14 protection layers.
Step 2: Create Your Account and Complete Onboarding
Open Peace of Mind and create an account with your email address or sign in with Apple. Complete the onboarding quiz — this takes about 2 minutes and helps you reflect on why you are setting up protection. The quiz is not data collection; it is a moment to connect with your motivation before you begin.
Step 3: Start Your Free Trial
Activate your 7-day free trial. You will not be charged until the trial ends. Cancel anytime during the trial with no charge. Once activated, all 14 protection layers are immediately active: AI image scanning, 13M domain bloom filter, real-time text scanning with 200,000+ word variants, outgoing message blocking, and all social media controls.
Step 4: Set Up Screen Time Restrictions
This is the critical step. Follow the in-app lockdown guide to configure Screen Time on your iPhone:
- Block Safari — Prevents unfiltered browsing through Apple's built-in browser.
- Block all third-party browsers — Prevents installing Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or any other browser that does not have the filter.
- Block app installs from the App Store — Prevents downloading new browsers, VPNs, or any other apps that could bypass the filter.
- Block app deletion — Prevents removing Peace of Mind from the device.
- Disable Siri web search — Prevents Siri from returning web search results that bypass the filter.
- Set a Screen Time passcode — This 4-digit code controls all the restrictions above.
Step 5: Secure the Screen Time Passcode
Give the Screen Time passcode to someone you trust — a spouse, a friend, a therapist, an accountability partner. If you do not have someone available, store it in a time-locked vault app. The entire point of this step is to ensure that you cannot undo the restrictions in a moment of weakness. The passcode should not be something you can access on demand.
